Diversity Statement
I believe that my classroom could
offers the opportunity to learn from the diversity of all community members. Such learning is premised upon mutual appreciation
and respect. By participating in such a classroom, my students are better learners and more responsible citizens. The recognition
of differences, in terms of ethnicity, race, religion, socioeconomic status, gender or sexual orientation, is not all that
is learned. Rather, this recognition provides a means through which the community is enriched, bringing to the whole a diversity
of voices that seek to understand each other, and work together. Ultimately allowing my students to connect ideas learned
in the classroom to real world encounters.
